Samsung offers slim slider phone fans another new option with its new Samsung S8300. Inspired by the success of Samsung 3G Mobile U900 Soul, the successor, Samsung S8300, has seen some upgrading compared to its predecessor. About the thickness of U900 Soul or approximately 12.8mm, Samsung S8300 features a 2.8-inch AMOLED touchscreen display (slightly larger screen compared to U900 Soul’s 2.2-inch display) which rocks 16 millions colors and a better built-in 8-megapixel auto-focus camera (5-megapixel for U900 Soul). Similar to U900 Soul, S8300 also offers GPS; FM radio with RDS; connectivity via Bluetooth & USB and 7.2Mbps HSDPA connectivity.

The onboard memory for S8300 is 60MB, slightly less compared to U900 Soul’s 100MB. Nevertheless, both are able to extend memory via MicroSD memory card. Other features of Samsung S8300 include DivX playback and an anti-scratch, anti-fingerprint coated duraluminium chassis.

U900 Soul was Samsung’s flagship product for year 2008. Can S8300 continue to be a marketing success in 2009? Let’s wait and see. Of course there still might be some design changes before its official release next year.
