The world’s biggest maker of video-game consoles, Sony has announced its 40 gigabyte PlayStation 3 that previously launch in Japan and Europe will be available in US in coming November 2 for only $399. Meanwhile, the company also cut the price of current 80GB model to $499, $100 cheaper than the original launch price ($599). It’s a time to buy PS3!

“We’re pleased to offer the consumer a lower price point without sacrificing the core technology components that make PS3 the most advanced high-definition entertainment system available,” said Sony games head Jack Tretton. “Every PS3 comes with a Blu-ray drive, HDMI output, an integrated Wi-Fi connection, Cell Broadband Engine and a built-in hard-drive.”

Anyway, an 40GB Sony Playstation 3 also has some disadvantages which are removal of backwards-compatible with any Playstation 2 software, two USB ports and the card reader, in an effort to cut costs.
