Microsoft is giving away a suite of Windows Embedded Server products in a package called Windows Embedded Server Products Evaluation Software. By registering and downloading the package, users can use plenty of software applications, which includes operating systems and complement solutions to build dedicated system at no charge for evaluation purpose only.
The software products that are bundled inside the Windows Embedded Server Products Evaluation Software package include:
- Windows Server 2008 for Embedded Systems
- Windows Server 2003 R2 for Embedded Systems
- Windows Server 2003 for Embedded Systems with the Server Appliance Software Version 3.0
- Microsoft Server Appliance Software Version 3.1
- Windows Storage Server 2003 R2
- Windows Unified Data Storage Server 2003 (32-bit and 64-bit)
- Windows Home Server
- Microsoft System Center Data Protection Manager (DPM) 2006
- Microsoft Internet Security and Acceleration (ISA) Server 2006
- SQL Server 2005 for Embedded Systems.
The download is primarily intended for Original Equipment Manufacturers (“OEMs”) developing Dedicated Server solutions, and it includes a variety of tools for creating fixed-function Dedicated Server products built on Windows Server 2003 technology. However, everybody can register and complete a simply registration process to download the Windows Embedded Server Products evaluation products and also the product keys necessary to activate the product to run the software and build dedicated server and server appliance solutions.
And, although it’s named as evaluation software, but all downloads are pretty much the full licensed and full version apps with the licensed product keys provided during the registration process.
