Mplayer or Multimedia player has been complimented as the best media player for Linux. The full package of this award-winning open source media player is now available for Windows OS platform. This new Windows package maintained by LoRd MuldeR contains the most recent builds of MPlayer for the Windows platform as well as SMPlayer and MPUI.

Mplayer is a free media player distributed under the GNU General Public License. Comparatively, this player doesn’t use up a lot of your computer’s resources. It supports a wide variety of media formats such as MPEG/VOB, AVI, ASF/WMA/WMV, RM, QT/MOV/MP4, Ogg/OGM, MKV, VIVO, FLI, NuppelVideo, yuv4mpeg, FILM and RoQ. In addition to its wide range of supported formats MPlayer can also save all streamed content to a file. Users also can use it to watch VCD, SVCD, DVD, 3ivx, DivX 3/4/5, WMV movies.
