The Canadian mobile phone carrier, Virgin Mobile has announced a new Android base smartphone which is known as Samsung Galaxy 550. The Samsung Galaxy 550 has been designed to run on Google’s Android 2.1 operating system and powered by 600MHz processor. The 2.8-inch touchscreen display smartphone is equipped with a 2-megapixel camera.



Key features of the Samsung Galaxy 550 includes:

  • Runs on Android 2.1 operating system.
  • 2.8-inch QVGA touchscreen TFT LCD display with 240 x 320 resolutions.
  • Built-in 50MB of internal memory.
  • Supports Wi-Fi, GPS and Bluetooth 2.1 enabled.
  • 2-megapixel camera with digital zoom.
  • 3.5mm headset jack.
  • Supports up to 16GB of microSD card.
  • Supports HSDPA 7.2Mbps Dual band (850/1900MHz) connectivity.
  • Preloaded video player which supports video formats such as AVI, MPEG4, H.263 and H.264.
  • Preloaded music player which supports music formats such as MP3, AAC, AAC+ and eAAC+.
  • Comes with a 1200 mAh standard battery that supports up to 9.5 hours of talk time and 520 hours standby time.

The new Android smartphone with dimensions of 108mm x 56mm x 12.3mm and weights 102g is available for free via Virgin with a 3-year contract agreement or without agreement contract for $199.99.
