A new electronics maker, Dashboard Devices will be unveiling a talking in-dash double-din computer for the car at the 2009 international CES. It will be offering the ability to read emails aloud and run on Windows XP with an automotive interface and has a 160GB hard drive.

According to Dashboard Devices, the computer series is called as ENV, is slated for spring production and will be sold initially through computer resellers and then follow by CE car audio retailers. Dashboard also claims that its computers are unique because they offer true dual zone ability, where kids can control their programs from the rear seat and adults control their A/V and navigation from the front.

The Dashboard Device ENV computers features with Wi-Fi, DVD, voice activation of many functions and full computer capability plus navigation. It also will have internet radio capability, USB iPod control, satellite-radio capability and possibly built in HD Radio. The device will cost around $2700 with a 7-inch touchscreen and additional screens may be purchased for the rear seat. The Dashboard Devices also in talk with AT&T as the service provider for its phone based services.
