Kontron, a global leader in embedded computer system, has just unveiled a new Intel Atom Centrino based platform targeted for embedded market. Named as KTUS15/miTX, it is coupled with Intel famous US15 chipset offering numerous industry standard IO interfaces that make it suitable for wide range of applications. All these are packed into ultra small Mini-ITX form factor that measured at 170 X 170 X 20mm only.

The platform can be powered with either Intel Atom Z510 or Z530 that are running at 1.1GHz and 1.6GHz respectively. Paired with US15 chipset through 533MHz FSB (Front Side Bus) speed, it supports quite a number of IO as well as expansion bus interfaces. Not to be forgotten, US15 chipset has internal graphics engine core that is able to accelerate video decode capability especially on H.264, MPEG2, MPEG4 and WMV9 media files. Also its dual display can output independent contents on multiple screen that make it best fitted for Point of Sale and Digital Signage market segments. Other feature sets include USB host ports, SDIO and IDE interfaces for external storage, Gigabit Ethernet ports as well as high bandwidth PCI Express Interface for wireless modules.

Depending on the memory configuration (with up to 1GB DDR2 memory support), the platform can run in open source Linux or even Microsoft Vista OS. Other than those mentioned, it also supports Windows XP Embedded and Windows CE at OEM preference. Although no pricing has been announced yet, the platform is already available in commercial market.
