South Korea’s LG Philips LCD announced that it has developed the world’s first A4-sized colour e-paper – a paper-thin and bendable viewing panel, following upon its black and white display of the same size a year ago. The e-paper can be viewed from up to a 180-degree angle, meaning images will remain crisp even though the display is twisted around.

The A4-sized electronic-paper measures 35.9cm thin and the display is less than 300 micrometers thick. It can display up to 4,096 colours and it is designed to be energy friendly. The emergence of this E-paper open up new frontiers in the world of technologies especially in LCD displays. The manufacturer believes that this new product will eventually replace the use of paper for some products.
