Lindy Electronics has introduced its purpose-built hard drive, Mini NAS Enclosure, for the Mac mini. This Lindy Mini NAS Enclosure is compatible with the standard 3.5” ATA hard drives. It can be connected to the Mac via a USB port and allows users to backup data and share files easily over internet or a network. The enclosure does not require any dedicated server. It features a built-in FTP server that allows up to five consecutive users to backup or retrieve data via FTP connection. The enclosure also supports Samba server and able to host 64 online clients. It provides a password-protected browser-based user interface for management and configuration of the solution.
Lindy Mini NAS Enclosure connects to the network via a standard10/100 RJ-45 Ethernet connection. You have four options to set-up the device. It’s depending on the users’ requirement. If the enclosure operates under a built-in DHCP server router, it will obtain an IP address from the DHCP server automatically. If it does not, then the enclosure will immediately act as a DCHP server and assign an IP address for installation. It also supports static IP address and allows the users to connect directly to their PC via USB and operate like normal hard drive.
