There’s a small and yet interesting update to the Skype app for iPhone and iPod Touch which extends its cross-platform calling capabilities to do video calling to the Skype for TV. This new feature in Skype app version 3.0.1 enables iPhone users to video chat with friends and family on big TV screen by incorporating the h.264 compatibility.

To recap, Skype for TV was introduced back in 2010 which allow Skype users to make and receive video calls from a compatible TV set manufactured by Panasonic and Samsung. Perhaps video calling to TV sets is still insubstantial today, but with the increasing number of Internet connected TVs getting sold in the market, the video call activities in between the TVs and handheld devices will become a norm especially with the appealing experience of calling home and talking to the family via a huge screen TV set.

Well, not all TVs are Skype enabled and below is the list of  the Skype-enabled TVs for your reference in case you are sourcing for a TV to do video calls in the living room. Besides the TV set, TV compatible webcams are also required. You can find the gadgets from Skype for TV page.
