Microsoft Corporation finally revealed to Windows users that the long awaited Microsoft’s Morro antivirus has finally reached its office and is currently being tested by the employees internally. Microsoft has announced its FREE Morro antivirus solution for personal computers which is a substitute for its Live OneCare in November 2008. Live OneCare did not manage to break into the security solution market which is dominated by reputable security experts such as Symantec, McAfee, etc since its launch three years ago. One of the reasons is probably because Live OneCare is not free.

Although both the Symantec and McAfee share prices yesterday have dropped 0.5 and 1.3 percent on the New York Stock Exchange respectively, the two Security giants are confident about their own products and optimistic that Microsoft Morro will not pose a strong threat to them. “Microsoft’s free product is basically a stripped down version of the OneCare product Microsoft pulled from the shelves,” commented Symantec Consumer division president Janice Chaffin. “A full Internet security suite is what consumers require today to stay fully protected.”

Microsoft highlighted that the trial version for the free security solution, code-named Morro after Brazil’s Morro de Sao Paolo beach, will soon be made available to be downloaded from the Internet. Microsoft has yet to specify the date but MyDigitalLife will update users from time to time about this new free security product.
