Rumors such as the camera module vendor selection as well as new features on iPad 2 are spreading around with high indication that the next generation famous Apple’s iPad are already on the way. According to reliable source, Digitimes, Apple could have ready to start the initial shipment as early as February 2011 timeframe.

The report further disclosed that the Cupertino-based company has appointed and ordered Foxconn Electronics (or Hon Hai Precision Industry) to ship iPad 2 with initial shipment orders of around 400,000-600,000 units. Since its Chengdu plant is not in full swing (currently in pilot build) yet, likelihood the mass production will start in ShenZhen plant first. If you recall, the original schedule is to ship iPad 2 in January timeframe but due to its stringent firmware testing procedure, Apple has decided to postpone the schedule to February 2011.

However, no statement or confirmation from both the companies so at this stage it stays purely as rumor but we should be able to get more hints later when more and more eco-partners are engaged later. For new iPad 2, there are various new features such as front camera, gyroscope features and etc that been added so you may want to reconsider if to purchase now or to wait for second generation if you think current iPad feature doesn’t meet your requirement.
